New-Age-Asceticism (NAA) encompasses works that I engage outside of my industry. I conceived of NAA as a path I created for myself to investigate an all encompassing, multifaceted study of a good life worthy of existence.
I have been an inveterate practitioner of The Amen Regimen for almost a decade now. I have had the honor to do so under the mentorship of the author and practitioner himself: Dr. Nun Amen-Ra.
The Amen Age-Inhibition Regimen (AIR) is an evolving multi-volume opus of research on scientifically valid measures to extend maximum lifespan. The protocol has pentavalent nature consisting of 5 principal parts: Fasting, Nutrition(dietary), Exercise, Educational, and Meditative.
Fast [IF/CR]: A single nocturnal meal not exceeding an hour in duration and calorically restricted ~1500-1750 kilo calories max.
Diet: Thoroughly vegetal (vegan/plant-based/lacto-vegetarian) staples, including agents known to independently increase mammalian lifespan. Non-calorific beverages like teas and herbal infusions are consumed during the day-long fast.
Exercise: Aerobic exercise executed in the morning(and/or afternoon) followed by resistance exercise in the evening.
Educational: Intellectual assimilation of AIR and other literature or research.
Meditative: Interspersed 'Amen meditation' (10-30 minute mindfulness) sessions 2-3 times a day.
The transformation I have observed in myself and few other students has been remarkable. In my estimate, the self-discipline, mental acuity, and adaptability which I have gradually attained since my late adolescence (18 yo) has immensely improved the quality of my existence, and continues to do so.
Today, we can witness popularity of many 'bio-hackers', fitness gurus emerge to promulgate their programs. In my opinion the attempt to rival AIR remains futile. AIR is a stand alone Tomb. It warrants an all encompassing measures towards the qualities which one could deem a good life. Moreover, it is scientifically, philosophically, and practically sound.
At the time of this writing the boon of doing difficult things is getting some recognition. This could be due to increased collective anxiety, or various physiological and psychological ailments which transpire in a society acclimatized towards comfort, distractions, and hedonism (quantitative). Despite our collective "awareness" lack of Ascetic-like discipline deters many commoners from embarking on a transformative journey of self-discipline.
Music give me meaning to the mundane routine of everyday life. I have been studying classical guitar for the past few years and have had the opportunity to learn through one of the finest online schools for self-paced students. Its founder, Dr. Emre Sabuncuoğlua renowned classical guitarist and composer, has created a platform that gives students access to a wealth of musical knowledge and world-class instruction. Through this experience, I have developed not only my technical skills but also a deeper appreciation for music as both an art and a lifelong pursuit.
